Bethlehem - Mr. Frederick N. Smith, 81, of Bethlehem, passed away on Sunday, May 8, 2016 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Mrs. Carol (Truelove) Smith. Frederick was born on December 3, 1934 in Waterbury, son of the late Willard C. Smith and Elsie (Hock) Smith. Frederick attended local schools in Waterbury and graduated from Crosby High School, class of 1952. He went on to get his degree from Quinnipiac University. He was employed as an accountant for the Vermont American of Oakville, formally Seymour Smith and Son, retiring after 38 years of service. Frederick enjoyed all sports, especially fishing and hunting, loved his birds, and landscaping his property. He will be remembered as an all-around handy man. Frederick was a member of Christ Episcopal Church in Bethlehem and the Bethlehem Wildlife & Conservation Club. Besides his wife Carol, Frederick is survived by two sons, Robert Smith and his wife Maria, and Edward Smith and his wife Renee, both of Bethlehem; two grandsons, Ryan William Smith and Evan Nelson Smith; his brother, Conrad C. Smith of Plymouth; his aunt, Alma Smith of Wolcott and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Calling hours will be held on Friday, May 13, 2016 from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. at the Lyons Funeral Home, 46 High St., Thomaston. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 14 at 11:00 A.M. at the funeral home with an additional calling hour from 10:00 A.M. until the start of the service. Burial will take place in Hillside Cemetery, Thomaston. Following the services on Saturday, a luncheon will be held at the parish hall of Christ Episcopal Church, route 61, Bethlehem.
