Torrington Gerald "Jerry" Mosimann, 81, formerly of Thomaston and Naples, FL, passed away on Saturday at his home. He was the husband of the late Eileen F. (Groody) Mosimann.
Gerald was born July 14, 1943, in Waterbury, son of the late Edward H. "Ted" and Helen (Toupounse) Mosimann. He attended local schools and was a graduate of Thomaston High School, Class of 1961. He then attended the University of Connecticut, where he met his wife, Eileen. While in high school, he was a standout athlete which led to a lifelong love of sports and coaching for the Thomaston Little League.
Jerry worked for many years as a Highway Superintendent at O&G Industries and Arute Brothers, responsible for the construction of many miles of highways and bridges in Connecticut. In retirement, Jerry and Eileen were fortunate to be able to travel all over the U.S., including many trips to Alaska and driving the famed Route 66. He loved a good baseball or basketball game, spending time on the beach, his beautiful gardens, and a good lobster dinner. More than anything, he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was exceptionally proud of his family.
He is survived by his children, Jerry Mosimann, Jr. of Lebanon, CT, Kristin Mosimann of Thomaston, and Jeff Mosimann and his wife Susan of Morris; his grandchildren, Mark, Adrianna, Jamison, Jeffrey, McKenna, Cierra, and Kaylee; his sister, Marjorie Mueller of Athens, GA; along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins; and his lifelong friends, Rick OConnell, George Berch, and Rich Griffin. In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by his sister, Lorraine Franzi.
