Thomaston- Mr. Gordon C. Atwood, 81, died Friday morning, February 22, at the Charlotte Hungerford Hospital in Torrington.
Mr. Atwood was born August 12, 1931 in Thomaston, son of the late Grover C. and Mabel (Lynn) Atwood. Gordon is a lifelong resident of Thomaston; he attended local schools, was a graduate of Thomaston High School and was a farmer for his entire life. His farm was known for its sweet corn and dairy cows.
He is survived by three sons, Gregory Atwood of Waterbury, Kerry J. Atwood and his partner Robert Bryant of Portland, ME and Brian K. Atwood of Litchfield; three daughters, Lori J. Ozbat of Torrington, Joy E. Iffland and her husband Thomas of Torrington and Jodie A. Giesy and her husband Mark of Bristolville, OH; one sister, Margaret McLaughlin of Granby; five grandchildren, Janet Rodgerson, Chad Konopka, Craig Giesy and his wife Jamie, Joseph Giesy and Alyssa Giesy; two great-grandchildren, Tyler Troth and Alivia Konopka. He was predeceased by a son Brett Allen Atwood.
Arrangements: A private memorial service will be held on Sunday, February 24, at the First Congregational Church of Plymouth. Burial will be in the spring in the Northfield Cemetery. There are no calling hours.
