Obituary

THOMASTON - Harry Peter Kilman, 88, died on May 17, 2014 with his family at his side. Born and raised in Thomaston, CT, Harry attended Thomaston High School and was a talented, all-around athlete who lettered in Basketball, Baseball, Track and Soccer. He graduated early to enlist in the U.S. Army Air Corps where he served as a navigator during World War II. He married his beloved wife, Marie Piazza, on June 12, 1948. After his discharge from the service, Harry attended the Bentley School of Business where he graduated with a degree in Finance and Accounting. During his professional career, Harry worked for several companies including Chase Brass, IBM, and Connecticut Bank and Trust (CBT). Harry spent the predominance of his career at CBT Data Services Corporation where he retired as the President. As a life-long Connecticut resident, Harry cared deeply about the community and served on several boards including the Visiting Nurses Association of Northwestern Connecticut, Thomaston Public Library and the St. Thomas Church Finance Board. Harry is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Marie, his son Peter and his wife Regina (Hartley), his son Paul and his wife Jackie (Penta), and his daughter Pamela and her husband Eric Rosow. His greatest joy in his later years was his role as "Papa." Left to cherish his memory are his four grandchildren Jonathon, Rachael, Julia and Harry, and his many nieces and nephews. The family extends its deep gratitude to the caregivers who assisted Harry during his final years. Calling hours will be held at the Lyons Funeral Home at 46 High Street in Thomaston on Thursday, May 22 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. A mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Thomas Church in Thomaston on Friday, May 23 at 10:00 a.m. Burial with military honors will follow at St. Thomas Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider memorial contributions to the Thomaston Public Library, the Visiting Nurses Association of Northwestern CT or St. Thomas R.C. Church in Thomaston, CT.
