Watertown - Mr. Henry Richard "Rich" Mailhot, 71, passed away on Sunday, August 14, at Yale New Haven Hospital.
Rich was born November 1, 1944 in Waterbury, son of the late Welly O. and Flore (Lafreniere) Mailhot. Raised in Watertown he had attended local schools and was a graduate of Watertown High School. A Vietnam War veteran, he had served honorably in the United States Air Force. He had worked as an EMT for many years, starting with Fitzgerald Ambulance and then worked for the Campion Ambulance Service for many years. He retired from the Town of Watertown, working for the highway department for several years. He was an avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed fishing. Most of all he enjoyed visiting with family and friends.
Rich is survived by three sons, Rick Mailhot and his wife Nancy of Southington, Todd Mailhot and his wife Diana Morcey of Bethlehem and Brian Mailhot of Bristol, RI; one daughter, Michele Mailhot Griffith and her husband Scott of Watertown; one brother, Reale Mailhot of Watertown; four sisters, Irene Lampron of Watertown, Lorraine Cable of Southbury, Maryann Zigadto of Watertown and Linda Mangini of Watertown; six grandchildren, Christopher, Matthew, Ryan, Drew, Shawn and Sarah; his companion, Carolyn Bellmay of Watertown and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two sisters, Teresa DeCarufel and Janice McKeown and three brothers, Raymond, Paul and Andrew Mailhot.
Arrangements: calling hours will be held on Wednesday, August 17, from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the Lyons Funeral Home 46 High St. in Thomaston. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday at 10:00 A.M. at St. John the Evangelist Church Main St. Watertown. Family and friends are asked to meet directly at church. Burial in Mt. Olivet Cemetery will be private.
