Watertown- Mr. John W. Lipeika, Sr., 59, died Wednesday, February 16, at Waterbury Hospital. He was the husband of Debra R. (Graham) Lipeika.
John was born February 14, 1952 in Waterbury son of Willa (White) Lipeika of Watertown and the late Frank Lipeika. Raised in Watertown, John attended local schools and was a graduate of Watertown High School class of 1971. Following high school John began his career as a meat cutter, starting with Waterbury Beef, then Pik-Wik Stores for many years and for the last 23 years he has been employed at the Country Grocer in Thomaston as the manager of the meat department.
John was an avid hunter and fisherman and was a proud member of the Thomaston Fish and Game Club, serving on its Board of Directors for three years, was an avid fundraiser for the club and was a member of the National Rifle Association.
In addition to his wife and mother he is survived by two sons, John W. Lipeika, Jr of Thomaston and Kyle S. Lipeika of Watertown; one daughter, Kara Lipeika-JAnthony and her husband John of Terryville; one brother, Ronald Lipeika and his wife Theresa of Northfield; two sisters, Cyndy Lipeika and Karen Lipeika both of Watertown; three grandchildren, Dylan, Devan and Easton and several nieces and nephews.
Arrangements: A mass of Christian burial will be held on Tuesday, February 22, at 10:00 A.M. at St. Thomas Church in Thomaston. Burial will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Watertown. Calling hours are Monday from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the Lyons Funeral Home 46 High Street Thomaston.
