Burlington- Mr. John Teetsel, 96, formerly of New Jersey, died April 29, in Michigan, while visiting his son.
Mr. Teetsel was born November 7, 1914 in North Bergen, New Jersey. He was a graduate of Union Hill High School class of 1934, and had been employed by S. Blickman Inc. as a sheet metal mechanic for most of his life before retirement.
John and his wife, Vera, who predeceased him in 2000, were very active in church life. He taught Sunday school for many years and was a member of the First Congregational Church of Thomaston.
He is survived by one son, John Teetsel of Rochester Hills, MI; one daughter, Edith Sharon Galusha of Burlington; seven grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren.
Arrangements: Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 21, at 11:00 A.M. at the First Congregational Church of Thomaston. Burial will follow in the Hillside Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Friday evening, May 20, from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the Lyons Funeral Home 46 High St. Thomaston.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Outreach Committee, First Congregational Church, 135 Main St. Thomaston, CT 06787, for "Pedals for Pastors", an organization providing bicycles to itinerant pastors in Africa.
