Thomaston- Mr. Joseph E. Gesmondi, 78, died Monday, July 2, at the Torrington Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was the widower of Caroline (Gosinski) Gesmondi.
Mr. Gesmondi was born May 28, 1934 in Waterbury, son of the late Joseph and Anna (Berrardi) Gesmondi. He was a graduate of Oliver Wolcott Technical High School in Torrington. A tool and die maker by trade he had worked for the Connecticut Carbide Die Company for many years, including 20 years as owner and president. He had served honorably in the United States Army during the Korean War and was a communicant of St. Thomas Church.
He is survived by his son, Michael Gesmondi and his wife Christian of Goshen; his brother, Louis Gesmondi; four sisters, Virginia Bradley, Lucy Healey, Maryann Strickulus and Genevieve Gesmondi; two grandchildren, Jonathan and Maddie and several nieces and nephews.
Arrangements: A mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, July 7, at 10:00 A.M. at St. Thomas Church in Thomaston, military honors will follow in the church yard. Burial will be private. Calling hours will be held on Friday, July 6, from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at the Lyons Funeral Home 46 High St., Thomaston.
