Thomaston- Mr. Joseph Velletri, 82, died Thursday morning, January 3, at Cook Willow Convalescent Home in Plymouth. He was the husband of Marjoh (Williamson) Velletri.
Mr. Velletri was born December 16, 1930 in Bernardsville, NJ, son of the late Frederick and Elizabeth (Bernardino) Velletri. In 1984 Mr. Velletri retired from Tech Systems in Thomaston and was a member of the First Congregational Church of Thomaston. He had served honorably in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was an avid golfer and bowler and will be remembered for his love of gardening and following UCONN basketball, but most of all for the joy he found in spending time with his grandchildren.
In addition to his wife of 55 years he is survived by three sons, Bruce F. Velletri and his wife Laura of Groton, John A. Velletri and his wife Dr. Diane Pope of West Hartford and Peter M. Velletri of King of Prussia, PA; one daughter, Caroline A. Wilson and her husband Richard of Thomaston; one sister, Louise Sloss of Basking Ridge, NJ; nine grandchildren, Amy Velletri, Robert Velletri, Nicholas Velletri, Alexander Velletri, Abigail Velletri, Amanda Velletri, Bryson Velletri, Haley Velletri and Jonathan Wilson and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Joseph Robert Velletri.
Arrangements: Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 5, at 1:00 P.M. at the First Congregational Church of Thomaston. Friends may call at the Lyons Funeral Home 46 High St. on Saturday from 10:30 A.M. until 12:30 P.M. Burial with military honors will be in the spring in the Hillside Cemetery.
