Thomaston- Mr. Kenneth F. Johnson, 91, formerly of Smith Road, died Friday, June 22, at the Masonic Home in Wallingford. He was the widower of Margaret (Barry) Johnson and Clotilde (Wood) Johnson.
Mr. Johnson was born July 14, 1920 in Thomaston, son of the late Charles and Hannah Johnson. After graduating from the Thomaston High School in 1938 he became employed at the Seth Thomas Clock Co. for 11 years. He then went to work at the Air Pax Company in Cheshire where he worked for 32 years, retiring as a production engineer in 1982. After his retirement he became interested in woodworking and stained glass, from which he made many gifts for family and friends.
A member of the Masonic Lodge for over 55 years, he was a member of the former Union Lodge #96 AF & AM in Thomaston and then St. Pauls Lodge #11 AF & AM in Litchfield. He was a member of the Thomaston Historical Society and had served on the Sewer Commission.
He had been an active member of the former Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Thomaston. He had served the church in many capacities, including serving as a Deacon for 25 years and as a Sunday School Teacher.
He is survived by a daughter, Ingrid Laigle of Porter, ME; a son, Arthur Johnson of Woodbury; a step-daughter, Christine St. Denis of Thomaston; seven grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren.
Arrangements: Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 28, at 10:30 A.M. at Our Savior Lutheran Church 505 South Main St. Thomaston. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery. Calling hours are Wednesday, June 27, from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at the Lyons Funeral Home 46 High St. Thomaston.
