Oakville - Mr. Medard Kennedy, 74, passed away on Saturday morning, February 6, at Vitas Innovative Hospice at St. Marys Hospital. He was the husband of the late Elaine (Forand) Kennedy.
Medard was born June 9, 1941 in Baker Lake, New Brunswick, Canada, son of the late Victor and Dora (Collins) Kennedy. He came to the United States at the age of 16, eventually settling in Waterbury where he would meet his future wife Elaine. After their marriage they moved to Oakville to raise their family. He was a member of the Carpenters Union local 24 for forty-two years and considered himself a stereotypical French Canadian sheet rocker. He will be remembered for his love of fishing and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his son, Brian Kennedy and his wife Tammie of Thomaston; three brothers, Benoit Kennedy of Manchester, Norman Kennedy of Waterbury and Robert Kennedy of Waterbury; two sisters, Jackie Soucy and Dora Lizotte both of New Brunswick, Canada; two grandsons, Shawn M. Kennedy and Aaron P. Kennedy, his great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Roger Kennedy and sister, Mary Mae Harvey.
Arrangements: A funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 11, at 8:00 P.M. at the Lyons Funeral Home 46 High St. Thomaston. Friends may call at the funeral home from 6:00 P.M. until time of service. Burial will be private.
