Obituary

Thomaston - Mr. Michael R. McHugh, 64, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, November 7, at his home. He was the husband of 41 years to his high school sweetheart Vicma "Vicky" (Chifari) McHugh. Michael was born September 10, 1951 in Waterbury, son of the late John H. and Ann (Rogers) McHugh, Jr. Raised in Waterbury; he was a graduate of Bunker Hill Grammar School and Kennedy High School, class of 1969. He had been employed in the Information Technology Department of the Danbury Hospital. Active in youth sports, he coached for many years and was an umpire in many leagues. He had a lifelong love of scouting and remained active in the Boy Scouts of America until this day. He will be remembered for the joy he found in playing golf with his sons and most recently a bi-plane ride with his son Robert. In addition to his wife he is survived by his two sons, Michael S. McHugh and Robert W. McHugh both of Bristol; his brother, Patrick J. McHugh of Waterbury; his sister, Ellen E. OHara of Plattsburg, NY; his aunt, Patricia Ladun of Waterbury; his cousins, Kathy and Tom Ladun and one niece and three nephews. Arrangements: Calling hours will be held on Thursday, November 12, from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at the Lyons Funeral Home 46 High St. Thomaston. A funeral service will follow at 7:00 P.M. Committal prayers will take place on Friday, November 13, at 10:00 A.M. at St. Thomas Cemetery in Thomaston. please visit In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in his name to Camp Mattatuck Volunteers P.O.
