Obituary

Thomaston - Mr. Myron "Mize" Roman, 79, of Thomaston, passed away on Monday, December 14, 2015 at his home. He was the husband of Patricia (Ryan) Roman. Myron was born on August 15, 1936 in Torrington, son of the late Dominick and Jennie (Rogozinski) Roman. He attended local schools and was a graduate of Thomaston High School class of 1955. After High School, Myron served honorably and proudly in the United States Marine Corps. He worked for the Iseli Co. in Terryville as a screw machinist for 36 years until his retirement. Myron loved collecting antiques, especially post cards, and was an avid golfer and softball player. He was also a co-founder of the over 30 basketball league in Thomaston. He was the past president of the Thomaston Historical Society, a position he held for 16 years, past president of the Thomaston High School Booster Club, and a former member of the Thomaston Rod and Gun Club. Besides his wife, Myron is survived by his son, Wayne Roman of Thomaston; and daughter, Lisa Guzzardi and her husband Michael S., of Long Island, NY. He was predeceased by his infant daughter, Susan Anne Roman. Myron is also survived by a brother, Marshall Roman of Watertown; a sister, Florence Stiklius of Waterbury; four grandchildren, Lauren Guzzardi, Connor Roman, Michael Guzzardi, and Kendyl Roman; and several nieces and nephews. Family and friends may call on Friday, December 18 from 8:30 to 9:30 A.M. at the Lyons Funeral Home, 46 High St., Thomaston. A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 A.M. at St. Thomas Church, 1 East Main St., Thomaston. Burial will follow in St. Thomas Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Myrons name to the Thomaston Volunteer Ambulance Corps, 237 South Main St. Thomaston or The Thomaston Athletic Track Fund, 158 Main St., Thomaston.
