Obituary

Northfield - Mr. Peter S. Knightly, 76, passed away on Wednesday, October 12, at the Charlotte Hungerford Hospital in Torrington. He was the husband of the late Beverly Kay (Bennett) Knightly. Peter was born June 14, 1940 in Waterbury, son of the late Stanley and Stasia (Drunsic) Knightly. Raised in Thomaston he attended local schools and was a graduate of Thomaston High School. He served honorably in the United States Marine Corps. He had worked as a yard foreman at the former Diamond Lumber in Thomaston for 26 years and then went on to Rings End Lumber in New Milford for 17 years. An avid fan of the lottery, he enjoyed his scratch tickets, but most of all he loved his family and enjoyed working with his good friends. He enjoyed reading and watching baseball, especially the Mets and Yankees. The family would like to thank the staff of Charlotte Hungerford Hospital, Torrington Health and Rehabilitation and Pulmonary Rehab of Torrington for the loving care given to Peter these last few months. He is survived by his daughter, Terri B. Suckley and her husband Chet of Thomaston; his sister, Gloria McKee of Wallingford; two grandchildren, Brett and Erika Suckley and several niece and nephews, who were very special to him. All funeral services will be private. Memorial contributions may be made in Peters name to the Thomaston Volunteer Ambulance Corps, 237 Main Street Thomaston, CT 06787.
