Thomaston- Mr. Peter E. Sanford, 79, died Monday morning, November 12, at the Waterbury Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Carolyn (Richards) Sanford. Mr. Sanford was born November 11, 1933 in Waterbury, son of the late William H. and Ruth (Bierce) Sanford. He was a lifelong resident of Thomaston. He had been employed at Tech Systems for 37 years as a Production Control Manager and then went on to work for 5 years at Micro Tech in Cheshire, until his retirement in 1998. He had served honorably in the United States Army during the Korean War and was stationed in Germany. He was a member of the American Legion Clifford French Post # 22 in Thomaston since 1955, was a 30 year member of the Thomaston Volunteer Fire Department, serving from 1952 until 1982 and was a member of the First Congregational Church of Thomaston. He will be remembered as a loving and gentle husband and father who lived for his family. He was a true friend to all who knew him and will be missed by all. In addition to his wife he is survived by his two daughters, Cynthia S. Lamontagne and her husband Victor of Harwinton and Carrie L. Rogozinski and her husband Douglas of Plainville; three grandchildren, Brianne Bonk, Brandon Rogozinski and Chandler Rogozinski; one great-granddaughter, Bella Rose and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his four brothers and three sisters. Arrangements: A memorial service will be held on Thursday, November 15, at the First Congregational Church of Thomaston at 10:00 A.M., followed by military honors on the church grounds. Burial will be private. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, November 14, from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the Lyons Funeral Home 46 High St. Thomaston.
