Thomaston - Mr. Raffaelo "Ralph" Lapio, Sr., 85, of Thomaston, passed away on Monday, February 22, 2016, at Waterbury Hospital. He was the loving husband of 62 years to Mrs. Lena (Famigletti) Lapio.
Ralph was born on April 3, 1930 in Watertown, son of the late Carmine and Gertrude (Verrastro) Lapio. Ralph served honorably and proudly in the United States Army in the Tank Division during the Korean War and was stationed at Fort Hood, Texas. He worked for a number of years as a toolmaker for Scoville and Risdon Manufacturing Companies. Ralph loved working with his hands and enjoyed repairing lawnmowers for family and friends. He also enjoyed going to tag sales and car shows with friends and family. Ralph also had a love for animals.
Besides his wife, Lena, Ralph is survived by his three children, Ralph Lapio, Jr., of Torrington, Patricia Ann Lapio of Thomaston, and Paul Lapio and his wife Susan of Canton; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by four brothers, Samuel, Vito, Canio and Dominic; and a sister, Marie.
Family and friends may call on Thursday, February 25, 2016 from 9:30-11:00 A.M. at the Lyons Funeral Home, 46 High St., Thomaston. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. at the funeral home. Burial with full military honors will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Watertown.
