Thomaston- Mr. Ralph F. Wolf, 93, died Friday, July 13, in his lifelong home with his wife Wanda (Kavesky) Wolf by his side.
Mr. Wolf was born in Thomaston on May 18, 1919, son of the late Robert and Dorothy (Griffin) Wolf. He had been employed at Seth Thomas Clock Co. until entering the United States Army. He served as a staff sergeant in Headquarters Battery 635th field artillery battalion. He received the European African Middle Eastern Theater Campaign Ribbon with three battle stars, the American Theater Campaign Ribbon, the Good Conduct Medal and the Victory Medal. He was recalled in 1950 to serve in the 511 Infantry Regiment, 11th Airborne Infantry Division during the Korean War.
Following his time in the Army he joined the Ladder Company #1 of the Thomaston Fire Department in 1940, served as a fire commissioner from 1970 to 1997, served as secretary of the building committee for the new firehouse and retired from Tech Systems after 33 years. He was a member of the First Congregational Church of Thomaston, the American Legion Clifford French Post #22, Senior Citizen Council and the Liederkranz of Thomaston.
In addition tom his wife he is survived by several cousins.
Arrangements: Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 17, at 11:00 A.M. at the First Congregational Church of Thomaston. Burial with full military honors will follow in Hillside Cemetery. There are no calling hours. Arrangements are in the care of the Lyons Funeral Home 46 High St. Thomaston.
