Thomaston Mr. Richard L. "Dicky" Embelton, 68, passed away on Sunday, January 26, at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford. He was the husband of Monique (LaFrancois) Embelton.
Dickey was born August 6, 1956, in Presque Isle, Maine, son of the late William T. and Jo Ann (Cahill) Embelton. Raised in Bristol and Thomaston, he attended local schools. Dicky was the proud owner of R&R Iron Works for many years with his sons, family members and friends working with him.
Dicky also took time to enjoy many sports, such as baseball, softball, boxing, flag football, fishing and golf. He thoroughly enjoyed his friends on many golf trips and trips to Las Vegas. He will be remembered for the joy he found in family reunions, simple family dinners and the house being filled with children and laughter. All who knew him know he had the biggest heart of love to share, we will all miss him.
In addition to Monique, he is survived by his sons, Richard L Embelton and his partner Kara JAnthony, Steven G. Embelton and his wife April and Tommy Knox, all of Thomaston; his brother, Grafton L. Embelton and his wife Debbie of Thomaston; his sister, Cynthia Knightly and her husband Carl of Thomaston; his grandchildren, Dylan, Devan, Miranda, Lincoln and Easton; his great-grandchildren, Jackson, Brantley and Tucker and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, William and Jo Ann, he was also predeceased by his brother William and sister, Judy.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, January 31, from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at the Lyons Funeral Home 46 High St. A Mass of Christian burial will be on Saturday at 10:00 A.M. at St. Thomas Church. Burial will follow in St. Thomas Cemetery.
