Groton- Mr. Richard J. Hearn, 89, formerly of Thomaston, passed away on Monday, September 28, at Lawrence and Memorial Hospital in New London. He was the husband of Carolyn (Rein) Hearn.
Mr. Hearn was born December 15, 1925 in Waterbury, son of the late Arthur and Martha (Nodine) Hearn. Raised in Thomaston he attended local schools and was a graduate of Thomaston High School class of 1943. He had served honorably in the United States Army during WWII. Upon leaving the army he attended and was a graduate of the University of Connecticut, receiving a degree in mechanical engineering. He worked his entire career in the aerospace industry. He will be remembered for his love of boating and the ocean.
In addition to his wife of 61 years he is survived by his five sons, Peter A. Hearn, Timothy J. Hearn, William B. Hearn, Paul R. Hearn and Philip M. Hearn; his sister, Lois H. Lyons; fifteen grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Arrangements: A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 2, at 12:30 P.M. at the Lyons Funeral Home 46 High St. Thomaston. Friends may call at the funeral home from 11:00 A.M. until time of service. Burial will be private.
