Thomaston - Mr. Riley Rexford Chase, 85, died Wednesday morning, May 7, at his home with his family by his side. He was the husband of Diane (Olcese) Chase. Mr. Chase was born July 3, 1928 in Bristol, son of the late David K. and Josephine (Barilla) Chase. Raised in Bristol he had attended local schools and had served honorably in the United States Navy during WWII. He had been employed for over twenty years at General Electric as an accountant. After that he went to work for New Departure in Bristol and then retired from EFI in Thomaston. He was a member of the American Legion Clifford French Post # 22 in Thomaston. He will be remembered as an avid Red Sox and New York Giants fan and a strong family man who was always smiling. In addition to his wife he is survived by his daughter, Traci Lee Chase-Rodriquez and her husband Johnny of Terryville; his grandson, Daine E. Rodriquez of Terryville; two sisters, Marge Fletcher and her husband Harold of Bristol and Carrie Zahacewski of Bristol; his sister-in-law, Teresa Chase of Bristol; his brother-in-law, Edward Olcese and his wife Marie of Thomaston and his companion Teo and cat Tae. He was predeceased by his brothers, Lawrence, David and George and brother-in-law, Harold Olcese. The family would like to thank the staff of Seasons Hospice of Naugatuck and the staff of Homemakers and Companions of Litchfield for the care given to Mr. Chase over the last year. Arrangements: Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 14, at 12:00 Noon, at the Lyons Funeral Home 46 High St. Thomaston, followed by military honors. Friends may call at the funeral home from 11:00 A.M. until time of service. Burial will be private. Memorial contributions may be made in Mr. Chases name to Seasons Hospice Palliative 21 Church St. Naugatuck, CT 06770.
