Obituary

Thomaston - Mr. Robert J. "Foo" Fournier, 91, of Thomaston, passed away on Tuesday evening, November 26, 2013 at Beacon Brook Health Care in Naugatuck. He was the loving husband of the late Edith (Carr) Fournier. Robert was born on January 13, 1922 in Waterbury. Growing up in Thomaston, he attended local schools and was a graduate of Thomaston High School, class of 1940 and the Whitney School of Art. Robert served honorably in the United States Air Force during World War II in the Patrol Bombing Squadron One Hundred Three, successfully completing over 60 missions on Anti-Submarine patrol in the European Theatre of Operations. Robert was an avid painter, having many of his paintings displayed at locations around Thomaston. He loved golfing and did so well into his eighties and was a proud supporter of the New York Yankees and UConn Huskies Basketball teams. Robert was a member of the Thomaston American Legion and the Thomason Fish and Game Club. Robert is survived by one son, Dana Fournier and his wife Lisa, of Litchfield; a daughter, Lori Baird and her husband, Kenneth, of West Cornwall; four grandchildren, Alyssa, Justin, Kyle and Shelby; and one great-grandson, Owen. Mass of Christian burial will be held on Tuesday, December 3 at 10:00 am at St. Thomas Church. Burial will be held at a later date in Hillside Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the Lyons Funeral Home, 46 High St., Thomaston, on Monday evening, December 2 from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M.
