Litchfield Robert N. Matthews, Jr, 82, passed away on Sunday, October 27, at the Charlotte Hungerford Hospital in Torrington. He was the beloved husband of Marcia (Remsen) Matthews for just shy of 60 years.
Bob was born September 1, 1942, in Bristol, son of the late Robert N. Sr and Genevieve (Wells) Matthews. As a teenager, Bob worked for Lincoln Amusements and continued to do so part time after beginning his 30-year career working in the forge at New Departure in Bristol. Later he drove a bus for Kelly Transit part time until after his retirement from New Departure when he drove full time. All who met him loved him and his work families meant the world to him.

Opening day of fishing was always important to him. It was almost like their own special holiday. Hunting with his son, grandson and friends was also a passion he loved. He was the cofounder of East Coast Dummy CB Radio Club, and he enjoyed all the friends made, the many camping trips, jamborees and other activities with all the club families together.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Robin Matthews and her fianc Kevin MacKinnon, Catherine Gill and her husband Allan, Jenny Matthews and Robert N. Matthews III.
