Thomaston - Mr. Roger A. DuPont, Sr., 85, died on Friday morning, May 1, at Rose Haven in Litchfield. He was the husband of the late Helen (Monahan) DuPont.
Roger was born July 18, 1929 in Bristol, son of the late Arthur and Antoinette (Kerouac) DuPont. Raised in Bristol he attended local schools and was a graduate of Bristol High School where he was a track star, and Central Connecticut State College. He was the owner of Rogers Mens Store in Thomaston for ten years and was then a partner and vice-president of DuPont and Nastri Associates, a sales and marketing firm serving the medical industry.
A very active member of the community, Roger served as Chairman of the high school building committee, vice chairman of the Zoning Board of Appeals, had served on the Board of Finance, member of the recreation committee, member of the Opera House Commission, Past President of the Thomaston Jaycees, Past President of the Thomaston Board of Trade, Past President of the Thomaston Rod and Gun Club, member of the St. Thomas Parish Council, Past President of the Older Members Association of the Bristol Boys Club and had volunteered for many years with the Boy Scouts of America Merit Badge Program.
He is survived by one son, Roger A. DuPont, Jr and his wife Cathy of Thomaston; one daughter, Sharon Pronovost and her husband Randy of Thomaston; one brother, Giles DuPont and his wife Dolores of Bristol; his son-in-law, Michael Philipp of Bristol; six grandchildren, Michael Philipp and his wife Kristin, Ryan Philipp and his fianc Leah Smith, Meghan DuPont, Abigail DuPont, Mitchell DuPont and Brendan Pronovost and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his daughter, Michele Philipp and his brother Guy DuPont.
Arrangements: Calling hours will be held on Monday, May 4, from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the Lyons Funeral Home 46 High St. Thomaston. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Tuesday, May 5, at 10:00 A.M. at St. Thomas Church. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery in Bristol.
