Thomaston- Mr. Roger A. Scully, Sr, 84, died Thursday, March 7, at Torrington Health and Rehabilitation. He was the husband of Joan M. (Knapp) Scully.
Mr. Scully was born July 23, 1928 in New York, NY, son of the late Jeremiah J. and Dolly (Knox) Scully. He was raised in Thomaston, attended local schools and received his Associates Degree from Post College in Waterbury. He had been active in local politics for many years and had coached little league in town.
He had served honorably in the U.S. Army, was a member of the American Legion Clifford French Post #22 and the VFW. He had been employed at Seth Thomas, International Harvester, Morolas in Torrington for 12 years, Harper Leader in Waterbury for 11 years and Paladin in Waterbury. He was an avid horseshoe player and was a member of many local horseshoe clubs.
In addition to his wife he is survived by two sons, Roger A. Scully, Jr and Robert J. Scully both of Thomaston; one daughter, Kathleen M. Blanchette of Torrington; one brother, Thomas J. Scully of Thomaston; three sisters, Geraldine Arnold of Torrington, Gertrude Cook of Harwinton and Mary Skerstonas of Watertown; five grandchildren, Tammy Braeur, Ryan Scully, Joshua Scully, Adam Scully and Shane Scully and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his granddaughter, Ashley Kozlosky.
Arrangements: Funeral services will be held on Wednesday evening at 7:00 P.M. at the Lyons Funeral Home 46 High St. Thomaston. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 5:00 P.M. until time of service. Burial will be held in the spring.
