Obituary

Thomaston- Mr. Russell William "Bill" Hotchkiss, Sr, beloved husband of Barbara (Cahill) Hotchkiss, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, April 14, 2010. The son of the late Arthur A. Hotchkiss and Amy Davis Newsome, he was born March 2, 1941 in Waterbury. He had served honorably in the United States Navy and was the co-owner of Barbs Variety on East main St. in Thomaston. His dry humor, wit and especially his funny little laugh will be missed by all of his friends and family who shared their problems, their jokes, funny stories and local news with him for 36 years as he stood behind the counter at Barbs Variety filling endless cups of coffee. He always made time to listen to a friend. He will be greatly missed by Barb, his beloved wife of 41 years, his sister Patricia Ray, who provided care and companionship during his long illness; his children, Russell William "Billy" Hotchkiss, Jr and his wife Allison of Thomaston, grandsons, Russell William Hotchkiss III, Maxwell Hotchkiss and their mother Shane Dalton Hotchkiss of Watertown, Mark Hotchkiss of Newington, Benjamin Hotchkiss and his wife Jennifer and their children Aubrie, Stefanie and Jacob Hotchkiss of Terryville, Lizabeth Hotchkiss Beck and her children Kyle, Katarina and Kasey beck of Terryville; his brother, Arthur A. Hotchkiss Jr and sisters, Lillian Smith and Shirley Zebrowski. The family would like to thank the staff of Vitas Innovative Hospice Care and many friends and family members who provided loving care and countless visits throughout Bills illness. Arrangements: A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 17, at 11:30 A.M. in the chapel at Lourdes Shrine 83 Montfort Rd., Litchfield. There are no calling hours.
