Thomaston Mr. Thomas W. Rieley, Sr. passed away on Saturday. May 27, at Vitas Innovative Hospice at St. Marys Hospital. He was the husband of Joan R. (Grohoski) Rieley.
Thomas was born October 24, 1932 in Waterbury, son of the late Joseph M. and Selina Rieley. Thomas served honorably in the United States Air Force during the Korean War, upon he discharge he returned home and married the love of his life, Joan, they settled in Thomaston and raised their family. He had been employed by Drawn Metal Tube, was apart time police officer for the Town of Thomaston and retired from the Thomaston Post Office. He was a member of the Thomaston VFW.
Thomass family would like to thank all of the staff at Vitas Healthcare for the wonderful care they provided while Thomas was at home and at the inpatient unit.
In addition to his wife he is survived by four sons, John P. Rieley of Thomaston, Dennis P. Rieley of Thomaston, Joseph M. Rieley of Terryville and Daniel P. Rieley of Thomaston; four daughters, Joan R. Brown and her husband Rick of Niantic, Patricia A. Rieley of Waterbury, Kathy A. Hanack and her husband Jim of PA and Amy L. Philipps and her husband John of Bristol; 27 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren; 26 great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, Thomas W. Rieley, Jr; his daughter, Deborah Lynn Harper; his grandson, Thomas R. Harper and his 14 siblings.
Funeral services will be private.
