Barbara Wetzler Coley, of Sunset Beach, NC, formerly of Thomaston, passed away on Friday, September 9, 2016 at Universal Health Care in Bolivia, NC
She was born on August 10, 1928. She was the daughter of Napolean and Lillian (Knox) Blanchard, a direct descendant of John Knox, founder of the Presbyterian Church.
While living in Connecticut, she was a branch manager for The Thomaston Savings Bank and later an administrator of the Farmington Savings Bank. Her marriage to Robert Wetzler took her to Tennessee, where she was office manager of a dental practice in McMinnville, TN. They built themselves a beautiful log home in the community of Bone Cave, TN.
Barbara loved her Lord and was active in her church. She loved to dance, knit, and crochet, and was an avid reader. She authored a 3-part religious fiction novel, MANDYS LEGACY, which has been published by Tate Publishing of Oklahoma.
She survived by her husband of 11 years, Ralph J. Coley of Sunset Beach, NC., one son, Mark E. Sears of Torrington, CT, one daughter, Elly Sears of Thomaston, CT, two brothers, Walter Williams of Texas and Carlton Williams of Thomaston, CT. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and five great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Wetzler, her son, Timothy E. Sears, and her daughter, Barbara L. Kennette.
Arrangements: A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 1, at 11:30 A.M. at the Lyons Funeral Home 46 High St. in Thomaston. Friends may visit with Barbaras family from 10:30 A.M. until time of service. Burial will follow in the Northfield Cemetery.
