Thomaston- Mrs. Barbara (Fox) McAdam, 86, died Monday morning, September 8, at Brandywine of Litchfield. She was the widow of John J. "Buddy" McAdam.
Mrs. McAdam was born July 22, 1928 in Waterbury, daughter of the late Henry and Gladys (Brooks) Fox. Raised in Thomaston she had attended local schools and was a graduate of Thomaston High School. She had been employed for many years by the town of Thomaston as assistant town clerk and had also served as assistant town treasurer. She was a member of the First Congregational Church of Thomaston where she was a member of the Ladies Fellowship Group; and was a longtime member of the Happy Wanderers Camping Association.
She is survived by one son, Gary McAdam and his wife Sharon of Thomaston; one daughter, Dianne Voluckas and her husband Don of Northfield; one brother, Robert Fox and his wife Jackie of Litchfield; four grandchildren, Mark and Amy Voluckas, Emily McAdam and her husband Seth Newton and Allison McAdam and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Walter Fox.
The family would like to thank her home caretakers, Hanan Selim and Jan Slavin and more recently the staff of Brandywine at Litchfield, Reflections Unit, for the excellent care she had received.
Arrangements: A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 10, at 11:00 A.M. at the First Congregational Church of Thomaston. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery.
