Obituary

Waterbury- Mrs. Dorothy (Dickson) OConnell, beloved wife of the late Gerald J. OConnell, Sr., passed away on Sunday (January 22, 2012) surrounded by her loving family. Dorothy OConnell was born December 19, 1919 in Waterbury, daughter of the late Joseph and Florence (Wilkinson) Dickson. She was raised in Thomaston, graduated from Thomaston High School class of 1937 and was employed at Seth Thomas Clock during World War II. Dorothy will be remembered for her friendly personality, generous heart and devotion to her family. She is survived by her son Gerald J. OConnell, Jr. of Waterbury; two daughters, Patricia Clair and her husband Christopher of Ellington and Mary Aszklar of Wolcott; one sister Josephine Lasek and her husband Allen of Southington, three grandchildren, Jennifer Clair, Brian Clair and Meghan Aszklar Burns; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Gerald J. OConnell, Sr., her two sisters Catherine Fritz and Elizabeth Riccio, and her son-in-law William Aszklar, Jr. Arrangements: Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 28, at 11:00 A.M. at the First Congregational Church of Thomaston. Burial will be in the spring in the Hillside Cemetery. Calling hours are Friday evening from 7:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. at the Lyons Funeral Home 46 High St. Thomaston. Memorial donations may be made in Dorothys name to the Dorothy Dickson OConnell Scholarship Fund at Thomaston High School, Attn: Guidance Office, 185 Branch Road, Thomaston, CT 06787.
