Obituary

Torrington Mrs. Eileen F. (Groody) Mosimann, 79, formerly of Thomaston, passed away on Sunday morning, February 5, with her family by her side. She is the wife of Gerald Mosimann, Sr. Eileen was born February 13, 1943 in Waterbury, daughter of the late Edward M. Jr. and E. Margaret (Cunniff) Groody. Raised in Waterbury, she attended local schools and was a graduate of Sacred Heart High School, class of 1961. She went on to receive her Bachelors degree from the University of Connecticut and received her Masters Degree from the University of St. Joseph. As her children got older, she returned to work as an aide in the Thomaston Public Schools and then enjoyed a 23-year career as a social worker for the State of Connecticut, retiring in 2003. Eileen led a life of adventure, never one to turn down the opportunity for a new experience- whether it be hitching a ride on a bush plane in Alaska or driving the historic Route 66. An avid writer and storyteller, she was fiercely proud of her Irish heritage and passed down her love of family to her children and her childrens children. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Jerry Mosimann, Jr, of Lebanon, Kristin Mosimann of Thomaston, and Jeff Mosimann and his wife Sue of Morris; her sister, Kathy Groody Scinto, and her husband Lenny of Trumbull; her brother, Ned Groody, and his wife Maria of FL; her sister-in-law, Marjorie Mueller of GA; her grandchildren, Mark, Adrianna, Jamison, Jeffrey, McKenna, Cierra, and Kaylee, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her sister, Peggy Ann and her brothers, Marty and Michael. Calling hours will be on Friday, February 10, from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at the Lyons Funeral Home 46 High St. in Thomaston. A Mass of Christian burial will be on Saturday at 10:00 A.M. at St. Thomas Church 1 East Main St. Thomaston. Burial will be in the spring in the Hillside Cemetery.
