Thomaston Mrs. Joan R. (Grohoski) Rieley, 86, passed away on Friday, November 3, at the Waterbury Hospital. She was the widow of Thomas W. Rieley, Sr.
Joan was born August 21, 1937, in Thomaston, daughter of the late Konstanty and Josephine (Rimkoski) Grohoski. Joan had worked for twenty-five years at the Northfield Rest Home, she did whatever needed to be done for the care of the patients, from cooking and cleaning to being an aide to the nursing staff. She will be remembered for her love of reading and most special to her was time spent cooking and baking for Sunday dinners and holidays with family and friends and monthly lunches with her sister and sister-in-laws. She will be missed by all.
She is survived by four sons, John P. Rieley of Thomaston, Dennis P. Rieley of Thomaston, Jospeh M. Rieley of Terryville and Daniel P. Rieley of Thomaston; four daughters, Joan R. Brown and her husband Rick of Niantic, Patricia A. Rieley and Joseph Catanzaro of Waterbury, Kathy A. Hanak and her husband Jim of PA and Amy L. Phillips and her husband John of Bristol; her sister, Carol Perrault; 27 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her son, Thomas W. Rieley, Jr, her daughter, Deborah Lynn Harper, her grandson, Thomas R. Harper and her siblings, Ted Grohoski, Benny Grohoski, Eddie Grohoski, Raymond Grohoski, Sylvia Foley, Gerald Grohoski and Eleanor Lauretano-Osowiecki.
