Thomaston - Mrs. Josephine (Czyz) Hawksley, 78, of Thomaston, passed away peacefully on Wednesday morning, December 17, 2014 at Cook-Willow Convalescent Home in Plymouth. She was the widow of Sherman Hawksley. Josephine was born on January 30, 1936 in Thomaston, daughter of the late Joseph and Julia (Magee) Czyz. She was a lifelong resident of Thomaston and a graduate of Thomaston High School Class of 1954. She enjoyed going to the casino, the beach, gardening, reading, traveling, especially her trips to Hilton Head Island, SC, and she cherished the time she was able to spend with her family. She was an avid UConn Huskies mens and womens basketball fan. Josephine is survived by her two daughters, Lynne Jablonski, Cheryl Roberts and her husband Gary all of Thomaston; four grandchildren, Kyle Jablonski, Wade Jablonski, Nicholas Roberts, and Jason Roberts; and four great-grandchildren, Carter, Wade Jr., Colbie, and Kailey Jablonski and a niece, Sharon Babcock. She was predeceased by her daughter, Karen, two brothers, Merle and Joseph Petlak; and a sister, Mary Kovaleski. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at The Cook-Willow Convalescent Home for the loving care shown to Josephine. Calling hours will be held on Monday morning, December 22, 2014 from 9:00 to 11:00 A.M. at the Lyons Funeral Home, 46 High Street, Thomaston. A service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Burial will follow in St. Thomas Cemetery in Thomaston. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Thomaston Police Union, 158 Main Street, Thomaston, CT 06787 or the Thomaston Volunteer Ambulance Corps., 237 South Main Street, Thomaston, CT 06787.
