Thomaston Mrs. Lois (Hearn) Lyons, 92, passed away on Saturday, July 15, at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital in Torrington. She was the widow of Thomas J. Lyons.
Lois was born February 9, 1931 in Waterbury, daughter of the late Arthur and Martha (Nodine) Hearn. Raised in Thomaston she attended local schools and was a graduate of Thomaston High School and the University of Connecticut. In late years after starting her family, Lois returned to school and received her Masters Degree from Central Connecticut State University and started her career in teaching for the Thomaston Public Schools retiring in 1996.
Lois was a dancer, hiker, world traveler, avid reader, teacher, thinker, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, widow and friend. She was passionate, kind, interested and interesting and so much more. She taught thousands of students and was just the absolute best human. She loved her family and friends, Tina Turner, Cher, the UConn Huskies, Peter Allen, going to movies, seeing musicals, her many dogs over the years, the lake and a million other things.
She is survived by her children, Marcee Miklinevich and her husband Bill of Thomaston, Carol Lyons of Bristol, Thomas Lyons and his wife Becky of Fairfield, Lee Lyons Galatro and her husband Vito of Naples, FL and Lynn Lyons of Thomaston; her seven grandchildren Courtney, Shayne, Amanda, Nicole, Patrick, Robbie and Connor; two great-grandsons, Collin and James Thomas; her great-granddaughter, Mia and several nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter Susan and her brother Richard Hearn.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Tuesday, July 25, at St. Thomas Church in Thomaston at 10:30 A.M Friends may visit with Loiss family from 8:30 A.M. until 10:00 A.M. at the Lyons Funeral Home 46 High St. Thomaston Burial will be private.
