Obituary

Thomaston- Lola Samela, 86, passed away on Wednesday, November, 13, 2013, at Waterbury Hospital surrounded by all of her loving family members. Lola resided in Florida for the past 22 years, until recently returning back home to Thomaston. Lola enjoyed spending time with her family cooking, laughing, praising the Lord and taking care of her "body guard" Star (her precious Yorkie puppy). Lola was one of a kind and everyone that spent a minute with her loved her. Her infectious laugh and storytelling made every moment unforgettable. Her faith has inspired friends, strangers and family members to stay strong as they proceed forward through lifes journey. The world was blessed to have Lola here for the past 86 years, and she will be sadly missed. Lola was born on June 10, 1927 in Providence Rhode Island and was the daughter of Joseph Lombardi and Maria (Bernardo) Lombardi. Lola was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Lola was predeceased by her loving husband Daniel Samela of 62 years. She was also predeceased by her son Gary Samela, sister in law and best friend Ann DeLauretis, three sisters and two brothers. Lola is survived by her daughter, Linda Bonacassio and her husband Tony, daughter Donna Kologe and her husband Robert, daughter DaniLynn Radulewicz and her husband Tom, her son Nick Samela and his wife Jennifer and her son Daniel Samela and his wife Diana. She is also survived by 19 grandchildren, Tracy, Erin, Marnie, Mandy, Maggie, Micah, Katie, Lauren, Jordan, Jacob, Seth, Daniel, Esther, Caleb, Ashleigh, Coley, Taylor, Mallory and Daniel III. She also had 13 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, November 20, 2013 at the Covenant Church, 64 Grove St. Thomaston with Pastor Tim Olsen officiating. Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, November 19, at the Lyons Funeral Home, 46 High St. Thomaston.
