Margaret 'Peg' Melvin, 88, passed away Saturday, September 22, 2012 at Cook Willow Health Center. A resident of Terryville, CT at the time of her death, she was born and raised in Thomaston, CT. Her heart remained there. She was the daughter of the late Charles Lowther and Hetty Bowkett and and predeceased by brothers Jack, Gibby, Fred, and sisters, Alma, Madeline, and Dorothy. She graduated from Thomaston High School. For the greatest part of her life, Peg was a homemaker. However, in later years, she took pride in her responsibilities at the Seitz Corp., from which she retired in 1986.
Survivors include her daughters, Lynn Melvin of Palacios, TX and husband 'Harry', Sue Julian of Terryville, CT and husband, Guy, son Robert Melvin, wife Debbie and grandson Rob Melvin of Thomaston, CT, grandson Guy A. Julian, wife Danielle and great-grandson Guy W. Julian II of Torrington, CT, granddaughter Amy Wylie, husband Ryan and great-granddaughter Ava of Canton, CT, as well as her beloved nieces and nephews and their extended families.
Peg was a small-town girl who loved simple things. She doted on her dogs and cats. She fished. She sang. But the one thing in life that brought her the most joy was the company of her family and friends. Nothing made her happier than a long visit, a few laughs, and a nice cup of tea.
