Thomaston Mrs. Margaret (Peggy) Adorno Quinn, 74, passed away on Thursday, August 17, at her home surrounded by her family. She was the wife of James R. Quinn, Jr.
Peggy was born June 9, 1949 in Middletown, daughter of the late Salvatore J. Jr and Rose (Saraceno) Adorno. Raised in Middletown she attended local schools and was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School, class of 1967. She attended Vernon Court Junior College in Newport, Rhode Island where she received an Associates Degree. She had been employed as medical receptionist for many years at various doctors offices in the Thomaston, Waterbury area. She will be remembered as an accomplished water skier during her youth while spending summers at the family beach home in Westbrook, CT. She loved snow skiing, tennis, enjoying the beach for many years with her husband and daughters, shopping, listening to music (especially Barbra Streisand), watching her granddaughter Julia play basketball for the highly successful Thomaston High School girls basketball team, and spending time with her twin granddaughters, Mia and Ava.
In addition to her devoted husband, who was her caregiver for many years, she is survived by her loving daughters, Kelly R. Quinn of Terryville and Katherine Q. Orsini of Thomaston; her sister, Patricia Hubbard and husband Randy of Westbrook; her three granddaughters, Julia, Mia and Ava; her aunt Josephine (Saraceno) Vassallo of Westbrook, many nieces and nephews, and several close family friends. She was predeceased by her sisters, Marion Carta and Elizabeth Betty Dundas.
Peggys family would like to thank the Hartford HealthCare visiting nurses and hospice team for their compassionate and tender care for Peggy throughout the years and during her final weeks of life.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, August 23, from 4:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. at the Lyons funeral Home 46 High St. Thomaston. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday at 10:00 A.M. at St. Thomas Church. Burial in St. Sebastian Cemetery in Middletown will be private.
