Northfield- Mrs. Mary E. (Post) Sanford, 71, passed away peacefully on Saturday morning, May 17, at Rose Haven in Litchfield due to complications from a stroke. Mary was born March 15, 1943 in Torrington. She was the loving wife of Robert Sanford. She leaves behind a son Robert Sanford, Jr and his wife Cindy with sons, Brock and Blake of Plymouth; a daughter Robin Vigeant and husband Paul with daughters, Myah, Jayden and Jazmin of Plymouth; a son Mark and wife Carissa with children Marcus, Mason, Maeson, Abby and Alizah of Litchfield; a daughter Marla Sanford and fianc Michael Fabbri of Bantam; a brother David Post of Plymouth. She was predeceased by her sister Barbara Post. Marys joy in life was taking care of others. She had a big heart and a fond love of children, especially babies. Mary fostered over 80 babies in her life. Marys family would like to offer a special thank you to the staff at Rose Haven, who were caring and treated Mary with the love and care she deserved. Arrangements: Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, May 21, from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at the Lyons Funeral Home 46 High St. in Thomaston. A funeral service will be held at 7:00 P.M. Memorial contributions may be made in Marys name to the Northfield Volunteer Fire Department.
