Wells, ME - Virginia A. Flynn, beloved wife of the late Frederick C. Flynn, passed awaypeacefully on March 12, 2016 in Scarborough, Maine after a brief illness. A long time resident of Thomaston, Virginia moved to Wells, Maine in 2010 to reside with her daughter, Mary Finnegan.
Virginia was born in Southington, CT on May 15, 1920. She graduated from Lewis High School in Southington,CT and Post Junior College. In 1942 she joined the United States Navy where she served during World WarII until her discharge in 1945. She married Frederick C. Flynn and they residedin Thomaston where they raised their three children. She was a long time employee of the Thomaston Savings Bank. Known affectionately as Ginny by her many friends, she was widely admired for her warm, engaging and fun-loving personality.She was adevoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, and her family will always cherish herlovelywonderful cheerful, selfless and caring ways.
Virginia was predeceased by her husband Fred, and her sisters Mildred and Lucille. She is survived by daughters Mary Finnegan of Wells, ME, Joanne ( John) Pratt of Weston, FL, and son Frederick C. Flynn, Jr.of Stamford, CT., her four grandchildren Christopher Dufort, Alison Pratt, Katherine Flynn, Matthew Flynn, hergreat grandson Quinn Dufort and her sister Eileen Voloski.
A calling hour for family and friendswill be heldon Friday, March 18from 8:30-9:30am at Lyons Funeral Home, 46 High Street inThomaston. A Mass of Christian Burial will followat 10:00 am at Saint Thomas Church, in Thomaston after whichinternment is planned atSaint Thomas Cemetery in Thomaston.
