Northfield- Ms. Hope C. Messier, 62, died Thursday, July 25, at her home.
Hope was born August 4, 1950 in Providence, RI, daughter of Hope (McLaughlin) Messier of Pawtucket, RI and the late Reginald Messier. Raised in Pawtucket, she had attended local schools, graduating from Tollman High School with the class of 1968. In 1976 she moved to Thomaston, eventually moving to Northfield in 1992. She was an avid organic gardener and participated in the local farmers markets for many years. She also volunteered at the Litchfield Montessori School, teaching the students about gardening. Hope was the former secretary of the Thomaston Democratic Town Committee before being employed as a postal clerk for the U.S. Postal Service for 25 years, working in the Terryville Post Office and then in the Torrington Post Office.
In addition to her mother she is survived by her three sons, Christopher A. Kostecki of Billerica, MA, Michael A. Kostecki of Waterbury and Stephen J. Kostecki of Tempe, AZ; two brothers, Daniel Messier of Washington, DC and Mark Messier of Salt Lake City, UT; her former husband, Mark Kostecki of Northfield and two nephews. She was predeceased by her son, Adam John Messier and younger brother, Reginald John Messier, both of Pawtucket.
Arrangements: A graveside service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, August 2, at the Northfield Cemetery. Calling hours are Thursday, August 1, from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the Lyons Funeral Home 46 High St. Thomaston.
