Obituary

Plymouth- Neil A. Swanson Jr., 45, of Hillside Ave., was called home Sunday, December 12, 2010 after a brief battle with cancer. He was the beloved husband to Mary Ellen (Fainer) Swanson. Neil was born in Waterbury on September 1, 1965 to Shirley (Lampron) Swanson of Shelton and the late Neil A. Swanson Sr. He was a graduate of W. F. Kaynor State Technical H.S. and attended CT State College. Neil was employed at Hartford Hospital as a Network Engineer. He moved to Plymouth nine years ago from Ansonia. He was a member of St. Thomas Church, Thomaston, the Knights of Columbus and the PTA at Plymouth Center School. Neil enjoyed golf, watching his sister at the Special Olympics and was an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan. He will be greatly remembered for his kindness he has shown to everyone, playing with all the kids and of course his pride and joy, his daughter, Jacqueline and spending time with his friends that are so close, they are considered his family. Besides Mary Ellen, Jacqueline, and his mother Shirley, Neil is survived by, a sister, Kim Swanson of West Haven, brother, Richard Goodwin of Orange, sister, Donna Amento of North Branford, and brothers, Wayne Goodwin of West Haven, Joseph Fainer of Thomaston, James Fainer of New Hampshire, Chris Fainer of Oxford, Robert Fainer of Terryville, Kevin Kopcso of Stratford, his second mother, by heart, Ruth Fainer of Oxford, Neil also cherished many nieces, nephews, great nieces, cousins, aunts and uncles. Arrangements: Calling hours will be at Lyons Funeral Home, 46 High Street, Thomaston, on Wednesday, December 15th from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. A Mass of Christian burial will be held directly at St. Thomas Church on Thursday at 10:00 A.M. Burial will follow in St. Thomas Cemetery.
