Thomaston - Mrs. Norreen (Tierney) Bystry, 88, of Thomaston, passed away on Tuesday, August 6, 2013 at her home. She was the widow of Mr. Alex Bystry.
Norreen was born on April 15, 1925 in Terryville, daughter of the late William and Ann (Degnan) Tierney. Attending local schools, she was a graduate of Terryville High School. Norreen was a resident of Thomaston for many years and was a very active member and communicant of St. Thomas Church and the American Legend Womens Auxiliary. She was employed at Summit Finishing from which she retired after more than 25 years of service.
Norreen is survived by her niece, Debbie Cristofaro, formally of Bristol; her three nephews, Brian Tierney, Gary Tierney and Glenn Tierney, all of Thomaston; 10 other nieces and nephews; two cousins; and several great-nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers, Donald Tierney and Norman Tierney; and a sister, Patricia Howe.
Arrangements: A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, August 12, at St. Thomas Church, 1 E. Main St., Thomaston. Burial will follow in St. Marys Cemetery in Terryville. Family and friends may call on Sunday afternoon from 1:00 to 4:00 P.M. at the Lyons Funeral Home, 46 High St.
