Thomaston - Patrick Doran passed away late Wednesday night at Waterbury Hospital at the age of 61. His untimely departure was the result of a sudden cancer diagnosis just a week prior. Patrick was a generous, compassionate man who will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Patrick was an optimist at heart and had many passions, but above all he loved life and family. He was a devotee of art, music, and literature, as well as being a skilled chef and dog lover. He enjoyed trips to New York City and was at home in any restaurant. Growing up in New England, he attended Brookfield High School and the University of Connecticut. He worked for the Department of Developmental Services for 25 years at Southbury Training School. Patrick is survived by his fiance Carolyn Palleria, sister Gayle Hague with husband Alan Hague, sister Aimee Martin with husband Dave Martin, brother Laurence Doran with wife Pam St. John, mother of children Lisa Doran, daughter Emily Eyth with husband A.J. Eyth, granddaughters Kaley and Kacie Eyth, and son Brian Doran with fiance Jennifer Chuddy. He is predeceased by his parents Angela and Earl Doran, brother Glenn Doran, and daughter Andrea Doran. There will be an open service, 10 a.m. Saturday, a Panikhida at St. Marys Orthodox Church, 3125 N. Main Street, Waterbury. In lieu of sending flowers, please consider a donation to the Connecticut Food Bank, or the Covenant House New York, two of Patricks favorite charities.
