Obituary

Patrick J. Martin, 47, of Lexington, MA and formerly of Thomaston, CT passed away peacefully on March 20, 2018 at his home after a brief illness. Patrick was the ninth child of Judge Luke F. Martin and Judge Rosemary Lyons Martin of Thomaston, CT. He was predeceased by his father and sister Mary Martin Isabelle. He is survived by his loving wife, Katie Field; his daughters Mackenzie and Caroline; his mother; his sisters, Kathleen Martin Riley of Thomaston CT, Maura Martin of West Hartford CT, Erin Martin of New York, NY; and four brothers, Timothy Martin of Philadelphia, PA, Luke Martin of Cheshire, CT, Christopher Martin of Thomaston, CT and Sean Martin of Weston, CT. He is also survived by 30 nieces and nephews, and his faithful dog Cleo. Patrick was born in Waterbury, CT on Nov. 18, 1970. He attended Thomaston schools and then the Hotchkiss School. He received a BSE in computer science and a BA in linguistics from the University of Pennsylvania. At Penn, he was a member of the Mask and Wig Club. Patrick was Chief Technology Officer at Connance in Waltham MA., where he led development, engineering and technical operations. Over the course of his 25-year career, he served as the CTO or Chief Architect at leading technology companies, both large and small. Patrick coached and actively supported his daughters in their athletic and musical pursuits. He was an avid cyclist and pilot. He loved the Red Sox and all things Boston. In 1982, Patrick was one of Hartford Hospitals first pediatric kidney transplant recipients. He had a second transplant in 1997 at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. Patricks family is deeply grateful to the doctors and staff at Mass General for their care over the years as well as during his recent illness, particularly Dr. Nina Tolkoff-Rubin. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the American Cancer Society or National Kidney Foundation. Calling hours will be held in Thomaston at the Lyons Funeral Home, 46 High Street, on March 26 from 9 to 10:30 a.m., followed by a funeral at 11 a.m. at St. Thomas Church and burial at St. Thomas Cemetery. A memorial mass will be held April 20 at 9 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church in Lexington, MA.
