Paul R. Jackson, 58, of Walnut Street, died Tuesday, February 22, after a short battle with cancer, at his home with his family by his side. He was the beloved husband to Elizabeth "Beth" (Walcott) Jackson.
Paul was born March 23, 1952 in Nottingham, England, son of Joan (Mellors) Jackson of Thomaston and the late Ronald Jackson. Paul came to the U.S. in 1968 and volunteered for Thomaston Hook and Ladder from 1975 to 1981. He was a race car driver at Danbury Racearena, SNYRA and drove SK #19 for Lumbard Racing. While living in Thomaston he became active in the community as a member with the Thomaston Rotary, served as a member for Light Up Thomaston and was Chairman, Paul was on the Clock Tower Restoration committee and wound the clocks at the Town Hall and at the gazebo at Kenea Park. He was a toolmaker and owner of Jackson Manufacturing Inc. in Thomaston. When Paul was not busy in town, making people laugh, he was always looking forward to traveling with his family and loved going to the Caribbean.
Besides his wife Beth and mother Joan, he is survived by a son, Stefan T. Jackson of Thomaston, a daughter, Heather L. Stull and her husband Jonathan of Harwinton, a beautiful grand daughter, Sydney Elizabeth Stull, two sisters, Susan Sansom and her husband Robert of Northfield, Dawn Marcoux of Thomaston and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1:00 P.M. directly at the First Congregational Church of Thomaston. Calling hours will be Friday from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the Lyons Funeral Home, 46 High Street, Thomaston.
