Obituary

Thomaston- Mrs. Regina Rose (Skulski) Miecznikowski, 89, died Friday, December 31, at Bel-Air Manor in Newington. She was the widow of Chester S. Miecznikowski, whom she married on April 19, 1941 and was a faithful companion to for 55 years until his death in 1996. Mrs. Miecznikowski was born July 18, 1921 in Thomaston, daughter of the late John and Mary Skulski. She was a graduate of Thomaston High School class of 1936. She had been employed as a secretary and executive assistant at New Departure Bristol during WWII and later at Donham Craft and Tech Systems. Regina was a communicant of St. Thomas Church and served as Regent of the Daughters of Isabella, McGivney Circle. She spent the last decade of her life in the excellent care of the staff of Bel-Air Manor in Newington. Her selfless love for family and friends is her lasting legacy. She will be dearly missed but her family rejoices that she lived well, endured hardship courageously and now rests peacefully in the house of the Lord. She is survived by her sons, John Miecznikowski of Sunny Isles Beach, FL and Peter Miecznikowski of New Britain; two devoted grandchildren, James Miecznikowski of Waterbury and Allan Miecznikowski of Avon; two great grandchildren, Giovanny and Javier Miecznikowski of Waterbury; her sisters in law, Carol Skulski of Meriden, Teresa Miecznikowski of Thomaston and Clemence Miecznikowski of Bristol and many other relatives and friends whose lives she deeply touched, among them, Luisa, Ginny, Nicole, Yesenia and the Skulski family in Wallingford and the Roy family of Thomaston. Arrangements: Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, January 8, at 10:00 A.M. at St. Thomas Church in Thomaston. Burial will be in the spring in St. Thomas Cemetery. Calling hours are Friday, January 7, from 3:30 P.M. to 5:30 P.M. at the Lyons Funeral Home 46 High St. Thomaston. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimers Foundation of America at www.alzfdn.org
