Obituary

Farmington - Richard D. Pecco, 87, formerly of Harwinton, passed away on Friday, October 14, at Cook Willow Health care in Plymouth. He was the husband of the late Betty (Kreps) Pecco. Major Pecco was born July 1, 1929 in Thomaston, son of the late Silveo and Florence (Davis) Pecco. Raised in Thomaston he had attended local schools and was a graduate of Thomaston High School. He had served in the United States Army for over twenty two years retiring from active duty in 1971 with the rank of Major. His awards and decorations include, Army Occupation Medal (Germany), Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, Bronze Star, Army Commendation Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Unit Emblem, Armed Forces Reserve Medal and Overseas Bars. He is survived by one sister, Jane Feliciano; his nieces and nephew, Lori Davis and her husband George, Sandra Jehaludi and her husband Mohamed, Diane Byrnes and her husband James, Israel Feliciano, Jr and his wife Susan, Melanie Zapata and her husband Larry, Debbie Lynch and her husband John, Ginny Pecco, Peggy Kelley and her husband Ted, Cathy DuPont and her husband Roger, Becky Gorman and her husband James and Tammy Dayton and her husband Brian; many great nieces and great nephews and his companion, Marion Gorecki. He was predeceased by his son, Michael Pecco and his brothers, Silveo Pecco, Jr and Kenneth Pecco. The family would like to thank the staff at Cook Willow Health Care for the loving care given to Major Pecco. Arrangements: A funeral service will be held on Sunday, October 23, at 2:00 P.M. at the Lyons Funeral Home 46 High St. in Thomaston. Friends may call at the funeral home from 12:00 P.M. until time of service. Inurnment will be held in Arlington National Cemetery.
