Thomaston Robert W. Henderson Sr., 86, of Old Northfield Rd., died Saturday March 13, 2010 at Valerie Manor in Torrington. He was the husband to Susan (Krizan) Henderson for fifty-seven years.
Mr. Henderson was born April 17, 1923 in Waterbury to the late Robert W. and Mabel (Crouch) Henderson. Robert was a graduate of Thomaston High School and the Waterbury School of Business. Most of his career he worked as an accountant for the Stromberg Division of Seth Thomas. He went on to work for the State of Connecticut at WCSU where he retired from. Bob was a member of the Masonic Temple Lodge # 96, he was on the board of assessors in Thomaston in earlier years. Also at one time was a member of the Thomaston Fire Volunteer Department and worked alongside his father. At the time his father was chief. He was most recently on the Board of Fire Commissioners for Thomaston. Robert was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church. He found enjoyment in golfing and fishing.
The family expresses their deepest gratitude to those that cared for Robert showing great compassion.
Robert is survived by his wife Susan, a daughter Beverly Aubrey and her husband Blake of Thomaston, a son Robert W. Henderson Jr. and his wife Norma, four grandchildren, Allison, Buddy, Jaclyn, Melanie, several nieces and nephews. Bob was predeceased by a brother, Edward Henderson and a sister Cydaria Henderson Nacman.
A calling hour will be held Wednesday, March 17, from 9:30 A.M. to 10:30 A.M. at the Lyons Funeral Home, 46 High Street Thomaston. A service will be held at 11:00 A.M. at Our Savior Lutheran Church of Thomaston. Burial will be in the spring at Hillside Cemetery of Thomaston.
