Robert "Bob" Paul Rourke, 65, of Northfield, Connecticut, died at home on March 6, 2024.
Bob was born on December 20, 1958 to Eleanor Houst and James Rourke Sr., and he spent the first eight years of his life in Beacon Falls, Connecticut, before moving to Northfield, Connecticut with his family, where he lived for the rest of his life.
Bob graduated from Litchfield High School in 1976.
When Bob was a young man, he began serving as a volunteer firefighter for the Northfield Fire Company, where he was an integral part of starting the Firehouse Breakfast. After serving for nearly two decades, Bob was voted an honorary member of the company.
Bob worked at Mirror Polishing & Plating Company Inc as a roll grinder for the last thirty-three years of his life.
Bob loved spending time with his friends and his long-time companion, Tracy Unwin Sherman. He enjoyed traveling to Cape Cod as well as cheering on his favorite sports teams, especially the Mets.
Bob was predeceased by his younger brother, James Rourke Jr., and his mother, Eleanor Houst. He is survived by his father, James Rourke Sr., and his siblings, David Rourke, Kathleen Brown, and Alice Belanger.
Bob was a loyal and caring friend, brother, and son, and he will be dearly missed by everyone who knew him.
A graveside service will be held at Northfield Cemetery on May 18, at 11 a.m. There will be a reception at Northfield Fire Company immediately following the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Northfield Fire Company.
