Obituary

Thomaston Mrs. Rogene E. (Freeto) Laplante, 92, passed away on Sunday morning, February 11, at her home. She was the widow of Herbert E. Laplante. Rogene was born March 13, 1931, in East Burke, Vermont, daughter of the late Alvah and Florence (Switser) Freeto. Rogene and Herbert moved to Connecticut in 1953, settling in Thomaston. She was a long-time member of the Covenant Church and was active in the Thomaston Senior Citizen Center, the Heart Club of Waterbury and the AARP. She is survived by her children, John H. Laplante and his wife Maureen of Thomaston, Gregory P. Laplante and his wife Rebecca of Terryville, Dennis J. Laplante and his wife April of Thomaston and Barbara F. Hanley and her husband Edward of Winsted; twelve grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother Neale Freeto and sister, Evelyn Michel. Calling hours will be on Sunday, February 18, from 3:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. at the Lyons Funeral Home 46 High St. Thomaston. A funeral service will be on Monday at 11:00 A.M. at the Covenant Church 64 Grove St. Thomaston. Burial will be in the spring in Hillside Cemetery.
