Thomaston - Mr. Ronald Sherwood Richards, Sr., 78, of Thomaston, passed away peacefully Sunday morning, January 27, 2013 at the Cook Willow Convalescent Hospital in Plymouth. He was the widower of Mrs. Elizabeth Julia (Frost) Richards Ronald was born on May 23, 1934 in Waterbury, son of the late Raymond and Lillian (Simons) Richards. A lifetime resident of Thomaston, Ron was a graduate of Thomaston High School. Ron enjoyed piloting, his RC model Airplanes, using his CB radio where he was known as "Thundercloud," and his collection of Seth Thomas clocks. Most of all Ronald enjoyed the time he was able to spend with his large family. Ron leaves beind his six sons, Ronald Richards, Jr. and his wife, Barbara Ann, of Blossvale, NY, Arthur Richards and his wife, Grace, of Northfield, Mark Richards of Thomaston, Daniel Richards and his wife, Debbie, of Norwich, NY, David Richards and his wife, Betsy, of Thomaston, and Robert Richards and his wife, Donna, of Winsted; 20 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 31, at 10 a.m. at the Lyons Funeral Home, 46 High St., Thomaston. Burial will be held at Hillside Cemetery in the spring.
